1) Try on the top of your skirt (the denim part) and measure from the waist to where you would like the finished length to be. Write it down and set it aside.
2) Mark your center back panel with a safety pin.
3) With right sides together sew the two front side panels to either side of the center front panel matching them at the top. If the bottom of one side is longer that's fine it's more important that they are even at the top.
4) Sew the back side panels to the front side panels. Making sure you are sewing opposite prints together.
5) Zig-zag or serge seams and press towards the back side panels. Trim bottom if necessary.
6) Sew the center back panel to one of the side back panels. Zig-zag or serge seam and press towards the side back panel. Do not trim the bottom.
6) Fold the strip of panels in half and sew the center back panel to the other side back panel. Zig-zag or serge seam and press towards the side back panel. Trim the bottom if necessary.
7) With right sides together, pin the panels to the skirt top matching the side seams and making sure the backs and fronts are together. You may have to stretch the fabric a little to get it to fit.
8) Put in your Jeans needle and sew the waist seam. Zig-zag or serge the seam and press towards the panels.
9) Now, to prepare for the ruffle we have to do a little math (sorry). Get that measurement you wrote down back out along with a pencil (or a calculator if your lazy like me). From your length measurement subtract the width of your ruffle, now add half an inch. Now, measure the length of your skirt. If it is longer than the number you came up with upon the completion of your long and difficult equation trim it to the correct length, if it is a little shorter or the same as your answer then leave it.
10) Zig-zag around the bottom of your skirt.
Now you're all done with this part!
See you later!
