I know the proud will fall...

...but I really think that when you like to make all of your Christmas gifts (or at least as many as you can) you deserve a little pat-yourself-on-the-back time when four of them get made in August instead of December. Don't you think that's only fair? There, you see, I knew you would agree with me!

Pattern: Buttercup Bag
(Thank you so much Emily for sending me the link to this pattern! I love it!)

Fabric: Assorted quilt shop fat quarters
Lining: White Cotton Twill
Buttons: Why, vintage of course!

I made these for my sisters so shhh! don't tell!

Summer Week In Feminine Dress: Day Seven

Shirt: Target
Skirt: TJ Maxx
Apron: I made it!
Earrings: Gift from Mama and Daddy

Katherine took this picture for us during the reception last Saturday.

Summer Week In Feminine Dress: Day Six

Skirt: TJ Maxx
Shirt: Target
Necklace: Sally Jean

It appears I never took a picture of my Day Four outfit, sorry about that. I wore a pink linen tiered skirt from TJ Maxx and a brown t-shirt from Target. The photo above was taken after working at the church all afternoon setting up the wedding reception, hence the tired look on my face and the water on my shirt!

Two Beautiful Maidens

Here are the promised pictures of the two bridesmaid dresses I made. The pattern for the blue dress is McCall's 3954 (altered to raise the neckline and change the sleeves from puffs to caps). The pink dress was a Burda pattern (I don't know the number) which I altered to raise the neckline and add the split in the front.

Thanks so much to Katherine for taking the pictures for me!

I just remembered...

I never posted pictures of the things I made as examples for sewing camp.

Skirt

Pants

Pillow

I ran out of time and couldn't get a bag made but one of the girls had made the pattern before and she kindly brought her bag over to use as the example.

A Visitor

One of the little girls asked Mama what that black thing on the window was? Imagine our suprise when we saw this:

A bat had gotten stuck between the window and the storm window. Daddy came home and set it free (after taking a few pictures of course!).

I had never seen a real bat before. It was most interesting, especially this close up!

Picture Guide - The Secret of Moonacre

Long Time No See

Sorry about that! I've been kinda busy lately. I just finished making two bridesmaid dresses (pictures to come) and I am so glad to finally have them finished and out of the house! Let's see what else has been going on? We replaced our computer and the new takes great screen captures, I made five purses this week (you may have to wait until tomorrow for pictures as it is very cloudy today which is a very bad thing for (my bad) photography) and Jennifer has just given me a blog award!

Now, according to the rules I must tell you seven things you may not know about me and then pass the award on to seven more people. Alright, here we go:

1. I am very much a stay-indoors-in-the-air-conditioner kind of person but when I do go outside I love to hike.

2. I almost never wear black, I prefer brown or gray.

3. I have a serious disease which is rather common in women and rare, but still possible, in men called Addicted to Shopping.

4. I only use Aussie products on my hair.

5. I constantly run into furniture and door frames.

6.I collect saucer-less teacups.

7. I used to hate going to yard sales but now I love to!

Now to pass on the award. Let's see...

Emily - A Day in my Life
Olivia - Eager Hands
Emma - Musings of an Innovative Maiden
Shannon - A Maiden's Musings
Amy and Julia - for lack of anything better
and
Chelsey - The Life and Happenings of...

Well that's all for now! Oh, I almost forgot, I think Week In Feminine Dress starts on Sunday. See you later!

Hello! Just thought I'd tell you that I am still working on by corset but I had to put it aside for a while to work on a couple of bridesmaid dresses. I'll will be sure to let you know the moment I start working on it again!

Loveday's Purple Dress

I think the thing with Loveday is that she is very in tune with nature, hence all the crazy branch thingys coming out of the top of her dresses.

Sewing is much more fun...

When you do it with friends! My mom is coordinating a wedding reception and she decided it would be fun for all the workers to have matching aprons. She really liked the brown one I made not long ago so we got some more of the same fabric and Lillian, Eady and I started making them Saturday night.

It was fun, we were up till past eleven and there is still more sewing to do! But, as I said, it was fun!
