OOTD: Monday

Hello everyone! I am at the end of another busy Monday. This morning was filled with things like walking about the house with either a broom or a mop in hand and helping the little girls with their school work. This afternoon I taught two sewing lessons. M is beginning an American Colonial outfit for herself, she has great seamstress aspirations and I am very proud of what she has accomplished so far! J is making an adorable dress for her sister, she has advanced so much in the short time we have been working together! I feel so blessed to have been given the opportunity to instruct such sweet young ladies! And today students so very kindly put up with my rather lethargic mood due to the Benadryl I've been taking. Yes, Spring is most definitely here to stay!

Quotables

“...before I was humbled, I was like a stone lying in deep mire, and He that is mighty came and in His mercy raised me up and, indeed, lifted me high up and placed me on top of the wall. And from there I ought to shout out in gratitude to the Lord for His great favours in this world and forever, that the mind of man cannot measure.”

Book Review - Joy: A Godly Woman's Adornment

"Joy: A Godly Woman's Adornment"
By Lydia Brownback
First Edition Published: 2010

Joy is one of the defining characteristics of a true follower of Christ. Lydia Brownback's book consists of 41 short devotionals filled with scripture and encouragement for finding joy in the Christian walk. Drawing mainly from the letters of Paul the book stresses the importance of thankfulness, confession of sins and casting every anxiety upon Christ.

I found the devotionals to be full of straight forward explanations of scripture passages and down to earth examples from every day life. They always continually pointed the reader back to the necessity of prayer and daily Bible reading and to the importance of trusting Christ in order to find true, lasting joy in Him.

"I may repeat "Do as you would be done by" till I am black in the face, but I cannot really carry it out till I love my neighbor as myself: and I cannot learn to love my neighbor as myself till I learn to love God: and I cannot learn to love God except by learning to obey Him."

Tank - Eddie Bauer Outlet, Had this for a while too don't know how much it was

Sneakers - Got them in Europe, don't remember the name of the store, they were approximately $12

Necklace - Sweet ans Simple on Etsy, $15-ish

What's with me and the little borders? I need to stop that!

Outfit of the Day (OOTD): Friday

I follow a few blogs who post OOTD's. I like looking at theirs. So I thought I'd try it. For a little while anyway. I know that some people think that "in the mirror" are a bit cheesy (no, I'm thinking of anyone in particular...... promise......) but at the moment I don't really have a choice.

The following are some notes about my bedroom:

Note #1: I share it with Mary Laurence, hence the baby dolls.

Note #2: I do clean my mirrors but there is this person in my house who really likes to put their hands all over my mirrors so I can either live with the smudges or clean the mirrors twice a day. I choose to live with the smudges. I'm sure she'll grow out of it. Eventually.

Note #3: The chair you see in the mirror is very ugly. It is also very comfortable. I have fabric to make a slipcover for it but I've been putting off the making of said slipcover for some time now. I don't like to make slipcovers. I will try to remember to move the chair out of view in the future. And maybe clean the mirrors a little more often. Just a little.

Okay, enough of that! On to the outfit. We have...

Cardigan - Yard Sale, $.10(?), Originally from Talbot's.

Dress - Made by me, Fabric was second hand and I think it's a Free Spirit print, Pattern is Amy Butler's Liverpool (gift from my grandmother) with some alterations as the fabric was in two pieces so alterations were necessary in order to cut everything out, $5 (I had to buy the buttons).

Belt - Made by me, No pattern, Made from ribbon given to me by a friend, $0

Jeggings - Belk's, Altered by me from ankle length with zippers (yuck!) to capri length with cuffs, $7.50

Boots - Amazon.com (it's amazing what you can find on there!), from Madden Girl by Steve Madden, $75 and let me tell you I so got my money's worth! I've worn them for three years and they are still going strong!

Earrings - Gift from a friend.

What has she been doing?

"The Reading Lesson", Emile Munier (1940-)

Well, besides taking a little unplanned bloggy break, nothing out of the ordinary. I've been...

Reading

&

Sewing

&

Teaching

&

Watching Movies

&

Hooping

(It's not going very well at present)

All normal, everyday sort of things, for me that is.

What have you been doing?
