Shells

So, do you want to know how long it took me to take a good picture of this pillow? Well, first I had it on the bed. No good. Then I put it on the sofa. No good either. I then proceeded to walk around the house in circles with said pillow in one hand and my camera in the other seeking for divine inspiration (or something like that).

It came.
It came in the form of a yellow chair.
Ah! the satisfied photographer.

The fabric is Ginsing by Joel Dewberry in a light cotton twill. I didn't use a pattern. I made it for my mom to give as a birthday present.

I *Heart* Wednesday

On a rainy day you might need...

I love this set of classics! I first saw them in an Anthro catalog then at one of their stores. I liked them so much I decided to start collecting them. My very first book is on it's way right now!

These ballerina slippers are so cute!

My siblings and I love to smell all the candles when we're at a home store!

And really, there's nothing better on a rainy day than wrapping up in a cozy quilt...

...And watching a great movie!

Have a good day!

Confessions of a Blogging Seamstress

Hmmm... sounds like the title of a television show. Oh well. So, it's been almost two weeks since I last posted. It's too hot to do anything around here. Or maybe my blogging inspiration just fizzled out. Either way, I'm sorry. I really hate it when someone whose blog I visit doesn't post for days and days (and no I am not pointing any fingers). Also, I decided I was tired of my current background/banner. What do think of the new one?

Now, I'm done with the blog-type confessions so now it's time for the seamstress-type confessions.

This is quilt I just finished for a lady at our church. It is made from her late father's shirts. Here's the confession part: she gave me the materials for it one year ago and for some reason I kept putting it off and putting it off. Then the guilt (and my father) stepped in. There, I've confessed. It wasn't as hard as I thought it would be.

And here it is.

The quilt I mean.

Finished.

The end.

As you can see...

I've been making some changes! I am doing away with the Welcome Menu and will be treating this more like a "normal" blog from now on. However, every post will be linked to in the sections above so as to be easy to find. Things are still under construction so I ask for a bit of patience while I get re-organized.

Let me know what you think!

Simplicity 3811 ~ Vintage

Mary Laurence graciously modeled a little dress I made recently to list in my Etsy shop. I used a vintage Simplicity pattern, I believe from the 1950's, I purchased on Ebay. The yellow fabric is Chloe's Closet by Moda and the red is a Lakehouse print. The corsage... was difficult! I tried three different glues but none of them would adhere to the floral tape! In the end I sewed it on.

Have a lovely Monday!

This Week

"Petites Maraudeuses" William Adolphe Borguereau, 1872

Then Jesus turned, and saw them following, and saith unto them, What seek ye? They said unto him, Rabbi, (which is to say, being interpreted, Master,) where dwellest thou?
John 1:38

Jesus' first words to the disciples were what are you seeking? Lately I found this to be a question I need to ask myself. What am I seeking? Am I seeking Jesus or my own personal happiness and pleasure? At the close of the day when I reflect on it's happenings I find that if I have sought the latter I have gained only personal suffering for my pains but if I have truly sought to follow Christ I have a joy and satisfaction within myself that is worth anything I might have had to give in order to receive it.
