Just one dress isn't much fun...

So I made Emma's doll two more. The dress on the left is her "Nancy Drew" outfit. We based on the cover of "The Password to Larkspur Lane"

Happy Saturday to you!

M is for Miniature

Emma received a new doll for her birthday. I spent some time this weekend digging through the scrap box and sewing up a dress for "Mabel". The embroidery design is from Embroidery Companion by Alicia Paulson.

If I were to start writing some movie reviews (only very occasionally mind) are there any particular questions you would like for me to ask myself?

Birthday Fun

So, this girl I know had a birthday.

So, we all traipsed up to the big town to do a little celebrating!
First we went here:

Then we went here:

But our shopping was interrupted when the fire alarm went off!

So we decided to find something for lunch.
Hmmm, this looks good:

They were quite busy so we took a moment to relax and chat.

After lunch we went 'round the corner and indulged ourselves with frozen yogurt!

(Hey look! I finally made it into a picture!)
What was our next stop you ask? How about the movie theater!

While we were there this was going on outside:

Yes, that would be torrential rain, hail, and the possibility of a tornado!
And when the movie finished:

Glorious sunshine!
You: "Hey wait! What movie did you see?"
Me: "Oh, nothin'. Just this:"

We then headed out for more shopping!
We tried on shoes at TJ Maxx:

Yes, they were very uncomfortable!
And tried on softball gear at Ollie's:

By this time we were hungry again!
So we went here:

And got, well, this and that:

And to round out the day, a visit to Gap:

Ah, tired but happy:

Happy we had fun,
Happy we had sweet fellowship,
Happy we had a birthday to celebrate,
Happy we were able to spend time with a friend from far away,
and Happy we were kept safe by Him from all the nastiness of the weather!

I hope the One who protected us also protected you!

Good-bye for now!

Jack: She's safe, just like I promised. She's all set to marry Norrington, just like she promised. And you get to die for her, just like you promised. So we're all men of our word really... except for, of course, Elizabeth, who is in fact, a woman.

Nancy Drew Fashion Week - Vintage Nancy

As you can see from my sidebar this week was Nancy Drew Fashion Week! Unfortunately my plans for participating were interrupted by the temporary loss of my camera. I now have it back though and can at least get a couple of posts in which makes me very happy!

I didn't have the time or the funds to make myself a Nancy inspired vintage outfit so instead I made one for someone else...

Inspired by the first Nancy Drew book, The Secret of the Old Clock, (which someone returned to the library, oh well) and this lovely vintage suit pattern I made a new outfit for my dolly Paige.

I used muslin for the little blouse and a linen/cotton blend from Jo-Ann's for the skirt and jacket. I used patterns from the book The Doll's Dressmaker by Venus A. Dodge for the blouse and jacket though I altered them quite a bit. I did not use a pattern for the skirt.

Hopefully I will see you all tomorrow!
