This Week...

Genesis 19:17, 23, 26
"And as they brought them out, one said, 'Escape for your life. Do not look back or stop anywhere in the valley. Escape to the hills, lest you be swept away'...The sun had risen on the earth when Lot came to Zoar...But Lot’s wife, behind him, looked back, and she became a pillar of salt." (ESV)

I think I am often guilty of the sin of Lot's wife. There are things I know I have been told not to look back upon or stop to see. Though there is no evidence of salt there are consequences. It causes me to waste time, to dwell on sinful thoughts and it often creates worry and worry nourishes doubt in the Lord's ability to care for me in the face of such evident sin as there is in this world. But after reading of Lot's wife we read of the birth of Issac.

" 'Is anything too hard for the LORD? At the appointed time I will return to you, about this time next year, and Sarah shall have a son.' "  -Genesis 18:14 (ESV)

"The LORD visited Sarah as he had said, and the LORD did to Sarah as he had promised. And Sarah conceived and bore Abraham a son in his old age at the time of which God had spoken to him. Abraham called the name of his son who was born to him, whom Sarah bore him, Isaac."  -Genesis 21:1-3 (ESV)

Why should I be afraid? God, for whom nothing is too difficult, has a plan for me.

What a blessing to see a young woman contemplating God's Word, and seeking first His will! I have been looking forward to your Saturday posting!
