My First Hats

No, I'm not a fan of Star Wars, actually, if you want to know the truth, I saw Episode One once at least five years ago and I remember thinking Queen Whats-Her-Name needed to redo her make-up. Anyway, I was asked to make three Imperial Officer hats and I must say they were really fun to sew.

Two of the Recipients

I really enjoyed sewing these, I had never made a hat before, at least, not for a person. No, making them has not inspired me to watch Star Wars, though I did check out their costume site. But hey, what I lack in science fiction I make up for in Jane Austen.

So where did you get those two adorable hat models? Nice work on the hats!

Wow! You did a really nice job on those hats! (And might I add a really nice job on your blog so far!) What material did you use for the hats? It looks slightly wool-like, did you have to line them?

Hi Olivia!

Yes, I used 100% felted wool and lined them with the same material. Between the two layers of wool there is a piece of heavy-weight interfacing. At one point it was so thick I nearly broke the needle! The lady I made them gave me a pattern to use that she had printed off the internet but I never asked her what site it was from.

Thanks to everyone for the encouragement, I really appriciate it!
